Now that you have mastered hanging your artwork at the end of the hall or in the pass through to the kitchen, what about hanging artwork over your fireplace? We have previously talked about the rule of 3’s and 5’s (or 3rd’s and 5th’s), this is a perfect place to consider that rule. When hanging artwork over the fireplace, look at the distance between the mantel and the ceiling. You will want to hang so that the center of the artwork is 2/3rds or 4/5ths the distance measuring down from the ceiling; this breaks up the visual space of the wall and creates a connectivity to the mantel and the rest of your space.
