When we help clients, whether with a renovation or building a new home we often have the discussion about paint, which leads to a conversation about trim! Many people are leaning toward white trim these days and with good reason, it looks great with a variety of flooring and cabinetry options. But… did you know that just in the Sherwin Williams line of paint there are over 60 shades of “white”! What is important to us when selecting paint and trim for clients, is how the white can bring out and compliment the other paint colors. Here is an example of a home with “white” trim the color is called Alabaster, it matched almost perfectly the new white cabinets and fresh green and blue color palette.
If you were to look at Alabaster by itself, you will notice that it is in reality very warm almost cream!
So keep in mind that when selecting a white paint for your trim, look at it only with the new paint colors and do not compare it with other paint colors or other whites, it will always look “off”!
