
We found this amazing glass-base lamp for a client from Pottery Barn. Unfortunately when we went to install it we come to find that it is “French Wired” and as a result, the cord is going to show quite significantly. This is what we mean by “French Wired”:

French wiring (like the lamp above) has the wire coming from the top of the lamp where the switch and bulb are located. This is typical of lamps with a glass or crystal base so that the aesthetic of the clear base is not ruined by a wire running through it. Something to look out for if you are not interested in seeing the wire except for poking out from the base of the lamp.
