A Fresh, Functional Workspace Designed to Bring Teams Back Together
Returning to the office after an extended period of remote work requires more than unlocking the doors. This small commercial office renovation in Sylvania was designed to create a space that feels energizing, welcoming, and intentional for teams returning to work.
RCI Interior Design partnered with a local business to transform a dated, cubicle-heavy workspace into an inviting office environment that supports collaboration, creativity, and comfort. The result is a refreshed space that feels warm, modern, and ready for a new chapter.
The Design Challenge
Like many offices navigating post-remote work transitions, this team was returning to a space that no longer reflected how they worked or how they wanted to feel at work. The existing layout felt closed off and uninspiring, with finishes that no longer supported the energy or culture of the business.
The goal:
- Remove visual and physical barriers
- Improve flow and flexibility
- Introduce materials that felt warm, grounded, and professional
- Create a space people would genuinely enjoy returning to
Small Commercial Office Renovation Design Solution
This small commercial office renovation focused on replacing outdated cubicles with a more open, collaborative layout while maintaining defined work zones and comfort.
Key design elements include:
- A striking patterned carpet that adds movement and visual interest
- Warm wood wall planks that bring texture and depth to the space
- Updated paint for a clean, timeless backdrop
- Thoughtfully selected furnishings that support daily use without feeling overly corporate
The finished office feels approachable and energized, without sacrificing durability or professionalism.

Why This Project Matters
Small commercial spaces deserve the same level of design attention as larger projects. When done well, even modest office renovations can have a meaningful impact on team morale, productivity, and company culture.
This Sylvania office renovation demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can turn an uninspiring workspace into one that feels intentional, functional, and genuinely enjoyable to be in.
